Gas Sales Bluenergy Volley Piacenza, after finishing the Regular Season in fifth place and awaiting the start of the Scudetto Playoffs, returns to Europe. Tomorrow, Wednesday, March 3rd, at 7:30 p.m. (free live coverage on DAZN), they will take to the field in Germany: at the Max-Schmeling-Halle stadium in Berlin, they will face the German team Berlin Recycling Volleys in the first leg of the CEV Volleyball Cup quarterfinals. The referees will be Portuguese José Caramez Pereira and Turkish Ramazan Cevik.
Tonight, the red and whites will conduct technical and tactical training directly on the taraflex of the Max-Schmeling-Halle stadium, which will host the match tomorrow evening.
After defeating Poland’s JSW Jastrzebski Wegiel in the playoff rounds, coach Boninfante’s red and whites now face a German team, who recently relegated from the CEV Volleyball Champions League, where they finished third in Group C only on set difference compared to Spanish team Guaguas.
The CEV Volleyball Cup is the second-largest annual European club competition. Gas Sales Bluenergy Volley Piacenza is participating in the tournament after finishing fourth in the 2025 SuperLega Credem Banca Scudetto Playoffs.
This is the second time President Elisabetta Curti’s club has participated in the CEV Volleyball Cup: the first was in the 2022-2023 season, when they were eliminated in the semifinals by Knack Roeselare.
Antonio Mariano (assistant coach, Gas Sales Bluenergy Volley Piacenza): “We’re definitely facing a strong team, and they proved it in the Champions League, where they lost only on set difference. They’re a strong team in all the fundamentals, with good rotation, especially among the spikers. They’re a fearsome team and must be faced with the right concentration, without losing their rhythm.”
