A.S. Volley Lube announces that it has reached an agreement with spiker Mattia Bottolo for a contract extension until 2029. The world champion is set to become a key figure for Cucine Lube Civitanova after already playing four seasons with the red and white team. Fresh from the Cavalese training camp with Fefè De Giorgi’s Italian volleyball team and captaining the national team in their first friendly matches (scoring 31 points in three matches), while awaiting participation in the VNL, the athlete expressed his satisfaction with the contract extension, extending his previous agreement by two seasons, expiring in 2026/27. This is an important step, strongly desired by both parties.
Since joining Lube in the 2022/23 season, Mattia has enjoyed unforgettable experiences, winning a Del Monte® Coppa Italia with the Club (2025), reaching three Scudetto Finals (2023, 2025, 2026), a Challenge Cup Final (2025), two Del Monte® Supercoppa Finals (2022 and 2023), and winning the Credem Banca 5th Place Playoffs (2024). With the national team, in the same period, the spiker has won two World Championship gold medals (2022 and 2025), a European silver medal (2023), and a silver medal at the VNL (2025).
Mattia Bottolo (Cucine Lube Civitanova spiker):
“Over the past four years, my relationship with Lube has continued to grow. I’ve had a particularly good time in recent seasons. When you feel valued and have the staff’s trust, renewal is a natural process. Thanks to Lube and the national team, I’ve had many experiences, both on and off the field, that have helped me grow in every way. I can say I’ve won my ‘challenge’ because I came to the Marche region as a gamble, taking risks, but I fought hard to find balance, and now I’m one of the project’s key players. Any regrets about losing finals? Last year, we lifted the Italian Cup to the sky. The pitch always wins; when we finish second, it means we did well to reach the title matches, but whoever has the last word deserves it on the pitch. I feel completely in tune with Lube, a team that, even when difficulties arise, fights until the end and is always a leader. I’m not the only one who brings out the best in me.” The coaches, but also the Predators. I’m happy to still have our fans by my side because when they start cheering us on, something magical happens. We must look forward with awareness and humility, continuing to fight for ever greater goals!
