Abba Pineto won the sixth edition of the Del Monte® Supercoppa Serie A2: in front of 1,000 spectators at a sold-out PalaVolley S. Maria and a DAZN audience, the team coached by Simone Di Tommaso won 3-1 against Gruppo Consoli Sferc Brescia after a no-holds-barred match. This was Abba Pineto’s second title of the season, following their victory in the Del Monte® Coppa Italia A2.

An excellent performance by all the “Adriatic” players, led by the superb scoring performances of captain Di Silvestre (20 points) and middle blocker Trillini (15), perfectly orchestrated by Mattia Catone, who was named Del Monte® MVP of the match and awarded by the President of the Serie A Volleyball League, Massimo Righi.

This is the fourth trophy for the Abruzzo club, following the Del Monte® Coppa Italia A2 title in February and the 2023 double in Serie A3 (Coppa Italia and Supercoppa A3). Pineto is also the first club to win both titles (Coppa Italia and Supercoppa) in both Serie A2 and Serie A3. Today’s success will be particularly significant for President Abbondanza’s club, as it is the first to be celebrated in front of their home crowd, following victories in Prata di Pordenone (Coppa Italia A2 last month), Macerata (Coppa Italia A3 in March 2023), and Fano (Supercoppa A3 in April 2023).

The match referees were presented with a memento of the event by Fabio Mechini, advisor to the Lega Pallavolo Serie A; Mechini himself and Mattia Di Gregorio, President of the FIPAV Abruzzo Territorial Committee, honored Gruppo Consoli Sferc Brescia with medals and the second-place plaque. Then it was time for the day’s winners: the Abba Pineto athletes and staff received their medals from Massimo Righi, President of the Serie A Volleyball League, and Alberto dell’Orletta, Mayor of Pineto. The Del Monte® Supercoppa A2 trophy was presented by President Righi and Councilor of the Italian Volleyball Federation, Antonella Di Cesare, to Captain Paolo Di Silvestre.
