Promotion, the Italian Cup, the Super Cup. A treble reminiscent of history, told with heart and a voice broken by emotion by Domotek Volley libero Massimiliano Lopetrone. A true talisman on the court, capable of transforming every tricky reception into a work of art.
Lopetrone gave free rein to pure instinct, delivering phrases that will remain etched in the hearts of fans. “This noise, in short… this golden noise,” he began, showing off the three medals he won, so important to him, having worn this jersey since day one.
“At the beginning of the year, to be honest, we had goals. We were a competitive team, so maybe you dreamed about it. But to be so sure of it? No, honestly, no.” And yet, dream after dream, the treble arrived. A perfect climb topped off with the icing on the cake: promotion.”
On the road to apotheosis, the toughest obstacle was Belluno. Lopetrone retraces the key moments of that battle: “It was a very hard-fought series. At home, Game 1, with the challenges of not having our home arena, we were a bit nervous because we weren’t at home. But with the support of the crowd, we managed to take it home. At their house, it was a close three sets, then their home advantage made itself felt. But we knew, we were aware that we were returning to the Palacalafiore. We were calm, knowing we had a crowd for the big occasions.”
Which laurel was the most beautiful? For the Calabrian libero, there’s no doubt, but the podium is a luxury. “If I had to rank it, I’d say promotion, because it was a spectacle from every perspective with 7,000 people.” A magical moment, immortalized by a simple yet significant gesture: “Did you look up to see how many people were there? Yes, it was impressive.” In second place was the Coppa Italia, due to the tension of the semi-final and the “super comeback in the final against a great team like Reggio Emilia.” Third, but not least, was the Supercoppa, relegated to the bottom of the rankings “due to events.”
