Rinascita Volley Lagonegro begins building its roster for the 2026/2027 Credem Banca Serie A2 championship with the first newcomer of the season: Cosimo Balestra is officially a red and white player.
Twenty-three years old, originally from Taranto, 200 centimeters tall, Balestra is a middle blocker with impressive physical qualities, a particularly effective blocker, and plenty of room for improvement. Despite his young age, his athletic career already tells a story of significant experiences, victories, and trophies won at the highest levels.
His volleyball adventure began in his hometown of Alessano and Castellana Grotte, Puglia. It was with the Salento club that he achieved his first major career success: winning the prestigious Boy League in 2017, an event that has always been one of the most important showcases for the national youth scene.
In 2022, his move to Vibo Valentia marked a crucial step in his development. He enjoyed an extraordinary season with the Calabrian team, culminating in a remarkable treble: promotion to the SuperLega, Coppa Italia, and Supercoppa in the 2022/2023 season.
A move to Castellana Grotte in 2023/2024, after which his performances attracted the attention of Prisma Taranto, who decided to bring him back to his hometown, giving him a spot on their top-flight roster for the 2024/2025 season. Last season, he played for Sviluppo Sud Catania in Serie A2, scoring a personal best in a single season with 124 goals.
