     SHOW TIME IN TURIN

The first big event of the 2010-11 season will take place in Turin’s PalaRuffini gym.

The protagonists are the winners of last season’s two main competitions: the league and the Italian Cup. Cuneo won the first league championship of its history the last 9th of May in Bologna. It was also the first time that the final was played on one single game. The other team is Trentino, which qualifies to the Super Cup thanks to its Cup triumph last January in Montecatini Terme. Funnily enough, Cuneo and Trento faced each other in both finals.

Cuneo has already won the Super Cup three times, and it was the first team to win the trophy in 1996. Trento still has to lift it aloft.

In the previous edition, the Super Cup was won by Piacenza, which had the better of Macerata in September 2009 in Frosinone.

The game will be played on the tricolour court, the huge flag 9×18 realised by Mondo. Cuneo is used to this court, as it uses it in all of its home games as the Italian Champion: The beautiful flooring is also used in all the Events of the Italian Volleyball League Serie A.

Not only are the two teams amongst the main stars of the Italian league, they also take part in the Champions League. Trentino, which wears the Trentino Betclic shirt, is the only team that has participated twice in the Club World Championships, event that was reborn last season after a long break.

In Turin, the Italian Volleyball League will boast the collaboration of the FIPAV Piemonte Regional Committee, the FIPAV Turin Provincial Committee and the city of Turin.
