MILANO – Still without a coach but with a great Vissotto (MVP with 26 points) Prisma Taranto gets its first 3 points beating a not so together Sparkling in Milan.

Taranto finished with 56% in attack, dominated the blocks (9 against 3 from the home team) and a more concrete serving. The match has been won by its setter’s inventions though (Nuti). The first set starts quite evenly but coach Daniele Ricci calls a Time Out on 5-10 after Rak’s 2 aces. It ends 16-25 without too many problems for Prisma also due to Sparkling’s various mistakes.

Taranro dominates the second set even though Milano manages to catch up to 22-24 but thanks to Vissotto they go to 2-0.  Milano tries to react during the third set but does not get anywhere. It’s 21-25 at the end thanks to Travica’s wrong serve and Taranto’s successful attack.

Daniele Ricci (Sparkling Milano): “We have been inefficient at blocking and we have had a poor percentage in attack, they served really well which made it difficult for us to receive. I do not believe this team is as bad as the result but it can grow quite a lot, I am talking about Martino and Samica especially. Having worked together for only 4 days has not helped at all.”

Giuseppe Patriarca (Prisma Taranto): “We knew we were facing a team that is still buidling given the Americans have only arrived a few days ago, just as well as some of the players still busy with their national teams, that is why we thought we were going to get a positive result. We are very happy, our aim this year is to entertain the audience and our supporters today gave us a good push. Technically I must highlight Vissotto’s performance and te team’s good reception that allowed us a better attack”.

Bre Banca Lannutti starts well with the captain’s first 2 aces of the season and after the opponents reaction and catch up it is down to the Cuban setter Gonzalez to close the first set with a great block on Kaziysky.

MVP Simone Parodi.

Silvano Prandi (Bre Banca Lannutti Cuneo): “Serving is an art that does not require a compact team so it makes it important through the initial phases. I am happy about how Parodi dealt with it changing from short to strong and how Wijsmans and Felizardo started with a strong serve straight away obtaining great results”.

Radostin Stoychev (Itas Diatec Trentino): “With Wijsmans, Lasko and Parodi on such good form and so aggressive we found it hard to win, our blocks did not work either. We were certainly penalised by the few days spent together even though we should not use it as an excuse. Cuneo was the strongest team tonight”.
