Trento – Inside a sold out palasport announced many days ago, the first semifinal between Itas Diatec Trentino and M. Roma Volley took place, first play off challenge for the two Clubs.
For Trento it was vital to win at home and doing it so well gives them great confidence.
The first set belongs to Stoytchev’s men who show great techniques and tactics from the start. The blocking-digging correlation, one of their strongest weapons, works from the first exchanges and thanks to Kaziysky’s attack and Birarelli’s blocking they make important points. Helping them is Roma’s attack which is full of mistakes and gives the opponents 5 points, plus 6 at serving. Trento slows down and Roma goes for it: Miljkovic and Marshall react very well. Itas wins the set but the romans show they are there.
M. Roma Volley signs the start of the second set relying on their servince which becomes more powerful and effective. They seem to have taken the right turn, hanging on a Miljkovic who appears to be everywhere. The serb diagonal player takes charge of the attack but during the match he also bumps into the opponents’ blocking who is marking him rigorously. Head to head and Trento recovers with the Kaziyski – Nikolov duo again. The first one is fenomenal in attack with 71% first then down to 60%, the second one scores the ace that hurts libero’s Henno’s reception taking their confident away.
Serniotti puts Marco Molteni in for Cristian Savani without obtaining anything though. Trento goes for 2-0 and goes further in the 3rd set. Aces for them, Grbic orchestrates the attack and at the second TTO they are on 16-6. M. roma Volley cannot get rid of Trento grip and leaves the honour and the victory to the opponents. For M. Roma Volley, Itas Diatec Trentino is still a tabu.
Ivan MIljkovic (M. Roma Volley): “Trento did not allow us to play, keeping us with our backs on the wall at all times. In the third set we helped them showing our worse volleyball of the season. This is a heavy defeat”.
Radostin Stoytchev (Itas Diatec Trentino): “We have obtained our first victory but we have to keep our feet on the ground. We have prepared the match really well and it showed. I do not think there was a best one today, I think the team won”.
