The winners of the A2 Cup 2008-09 is Latina. The victory over Gioia del Colle means Latina wins this trophy for the first time of its history.
It was a hard-fought victory, obtained with desire. It was great entertainment for the fans, credit as well to Gioa, followed by over 500 fans. Gioia made it really hard for Latina for long spells but in the end, it was Latina’s fans who could celebrate with their players. Leondino Giombini was the key player for the winners, scoring 25 points and being named MVP of the game. Daniele Moretti stood out too with 75% in attack and 7 blocks.
Gioia had to make do without Dias, substituted by Nuzzo, who shined with 28 points.
Lendonino Giombini (Andreoli Latina): “It was a tough game against a very tricky opponent that made it very difficult for us, with De Giorgi, Diogo and Nuzzo. In the end, we made it and are really happy”.
Gianluca Nuzzo (Nava Gioia del Colle): “We did not play very well at the sart of the game, then we found our rhythm and at one point, we believed in our chances. It’s a shame because when you get here you really want to win, we’re sorry for the fans”.
