Round 5: Ravenna vs Verona Sunday
Serie A supports World Day of remembrance of Road Victims.
Sunday’s game between Ravenna and Verona will put the end-word on the Serie A1 round 5. Ravenna stands four points behind Verona with just one victory registered so far against Vibo Valentia. As for Verona, two three-points win collected against Cuneo and Città di Castello as well as a tie-break defeat against Perugia. This will be the fifth match-up between the two clubs, Ravenna won just once last January at the PalaOlimpia arena. Before the start of the game a message raising social awareness on the UN World Day in remembrance of the road victims will be read.

Round 5 preview
Unlike the A1, there will be no schedule alteration for the Serie A2, which will be played as usual during the weekend. So far, Potenza Picena leads a pack of 7 teams tightly gathered in 3 points.
Coserplast Openet Matera – B-Chem Potenza Picena. The leaders, Potenza, visit the seventh, Matera, but only three points separate the two sides. Matera could therefore catch-up with a victory, something not impossible as Mastrangelo’s men have already beaten Monza, who were the leaders before that defeat in the last round, and Padova, remaining unbeaten at home. As for Potenza, they’re enjoying that first place and having outside hitter Fedrico Moretti at the best of his form, being currently top of the scoring chart with 96 points.
Materdominivolley.it Castellana Grotte – Cassa Rurale Cantù. Castellana Grotte is still looking for its first win but showed great improvement in the last round against Sora, when Cazzaniga 24 points) and co took a point against the strong Sora team. Second road game in a row for Cantù following last week’s win over Corigliano, which took them to fifth in the table.
Itely Milano – Sidigas HS Avellino. Beaten in Padova last week, Milan needs a results not to lose ground on the top positions. Avellino is coming off a victory over Ortona with an outstanding Bencz (27 points in three sets). But it’s precisely Bencz who swapped shirts this week as he signed for Milan and will play against his former team.
Tonazzo Padova – Globo Banca Popolare del Frusinate Sora. One of the most awaited clash of the weekend: second versus third as both teams collected 10 points thus far. Two teams that fought it out six times last season, sharing the glory. But Sora will be the one with a will of revenge as it was knocked out of the playoffs in the semi-finals by Padova.
Vero Volley Monza – Caffè Aiello Corigliano. Monza slipped from top spot to sixth in the table because of the loss in Matera, while Corigliano remains stuck at the bottom without a point to show for.
Sieco Service Ortona – Elettrosud Brolo. Two road games and two defeats for Lanci’s boys: one point against Monza and nothing in Avellino. They will try to bounce back against Brolo, bottom without a point and four 3-0 defeats conceded.
