Semi-final game 5

Piacenza vs Perugia

It’s not the time to chase one another anymore. There’s only one game left to play. The winner will get on the train that leads to the final, where there is Macerata waiting. Semi-final game 5

Copra Elior Piacenza – Sir Safety Perugia

(2-2)

Past encounters: 11 (9-2 Piacenza)

Regular season: 3 (Piacenza won both league games 3-1. It also won the cup final against Perugia 3-0)

Playoffs: 6 meetings: 2 quarters (Piacenza won both), 4 in the semis (2-2)

Lorenzo Smerilli (Copra Elior Piacenza): “This series proves that the difference between the two sides is extremely slim. Unfortunately, we’ve had some physical problems and we’re paying the price, this comes at the worst moment, we had always been in good shape during the season. Thanks to our best position in the regular season, we earned the right to play this game at home, with our fans. Useless to say we’ll do everything possible to get into the final even if Perugia will battle as hard as in the previous encounters. The court advantage is important, playing in our PalaBanca arena has always been a key factor”.

Simone Buti (Sir Safety Perugia): “I have not find myself that many times on the eve of such games. I think what we need the most is composure. We know the atmosphere will be electric, but we have to stay calm and work our main strengths. I think details in those games make the difference, one play here and there can decide a game. Besides, the last three were decided at the tie-break. You need to play good volley as well as to get that bit of luck. The excitement there is around us is fantastic. Thanks to our performances and the fact we always give everything, a lot of people became passionate about the game and the team, and we’re extremely proud of that. It would obviously be amazing to go through. It will be tough but we know we can make it”.
