Trentino is the first to celebrate its qualification for the cup final in a brilliant atmosphere in Bologna. The league leaders had the better of Perugia in the tie-break and made it into their fifth cup final. They have won three of them, the last one in 2013 against Macerata.

Over two hours filled with excitement in front of 4500 volleyball fans. Trento trailed 2-1 against a Perugia side that was playing some beautiful volleyball, Nemec and co showed how tough they were mentally and turned things around. Nemec led the way with 20 points (64% in attack), while Lanza added 19 and was named MVP.

Radostin Stoytchev (coach Energy T.I. Diatec Trentino): “Character was once again the key to the game. Perugia seemed to have control of the game but we found a way. It’s not been a great game, there were many mistakes from both sides, it’s normal when there is so much at stake. We did a good job to come back from behind by using the players on the bench too. Burgsthaler came on in a tough situation and once again he had an immediate impact with some good work at the net. But nobody ever though to give up, that was the case already on Tuesday against Piacenza and in many other situations this season. We’re obviously happy to be in the final again, it’s important for the club and this group. We really deserved it and now we want to try our best to win it”.

Goran Vujevic (Sir Safety Perugia): “We did a great job until the end of the third set, then Trento got back into it. They have been more courageous on the serve and they made it difficult for us. We played poorly without taking any risks, without giving our all. There’s no shame in losing, but in the fifth set we had to give everything and we didn’t”.
