Perugia reached an agreement on a two-year deal with middle blocker Emanuele Birarelli. The former Trento star has just won the league title, his great experience and superb ability to block will be extremely valuable assets for the new Argentine coach, Daniel Castellani. Birarelli is not only one of the best middle blockers around but he is also the captain of the Italian national team. In Trento, he won it all: four league titles, three Italian cups, two Super Cups, three champions League and four World Club Championships. And that’s without mentioning the honours he received with the national team with which he has been playing since 2008. He won the Bronze in the Olympic Games in London, two silvers in European Championships in 2011 and 2013, two bronze medals in the World League 2013 and 2014 and the bronze again in the Grand Champions Cup in 2013.
