It’s been a big week regarding the building of the coming roster for Castellana Grotte. After the addition of outside hitter Bellei and spiker Casoli, President Michele Miccolis and sport director Vito Primavera made official the arrival of setter Marco Izzo. Born in 1994 in Massa, 195cm tall, he played last season in the B1 division with Bolzano. He came up in Cuneo’s youth ranks, where he won the Junior League, but often played in southern teams such as Atripalda (winner of the Italian Cup A2 2013 under coach Totire’s orders), Molfetta (A1) and Corigliano (A2). He collected excellent results with Italy’s youth teams like the gold medal at the European Championships Juniors 2012 in Poland or the bronze at the World Championships Under 21 in 2013 in Turkey.

“I was excited to accept Castellana’s offer – said Izzo – I had some excellent experiences in the south. I have good memories from Castellana Grotte because this is where I won the Italian title U18 with Cuneo. The Apulia region is extremely welcoming, I’m sure this will be another good season”.
