Paola De Micheli President of the Italian Serie A

Paola De Micheli is the new President of the Italian Volleyball League Serie A. She was elected at the end of the Assemble on 20 July as all the SuperLega and Serie A2 UnipolSai clubs took part in the Zanhotel & Metting Centergross in Bentivoglio (Bologna).

The 42-year-old from Piacenza had a baby just a few months ago, while in the Government, she is Secretary of the Ministry of Enconomy and Finance.

This is the first time in history that a woman is elected as President of Italian men’s volleyball.

“I feel all the responsibility of the position that you handed me – said Paola De Micheli –   I will work with energy to make volleyball an even greater sport in our country”.

Paola De Micheli will make its first official appearance as President of the Legavolley tomorrow, Thursday 21 July, during the unveiling of the SuperLega and Serie A2 fixture lists.

Paola De Micheli loves sport and obviously volleyball. She played the game from 6 to 22 years old and was a coach for three years of the Under 16 team of her home town, Pontenure, near Piacenza. She loves running and took part in five marathons (among which, New York, Paris, Berlin and London). She is a member of the Montecitorio Running Club, the national team of parliamentarians who run for charity purposes. She’s also passionate about other sports such as figure skating, swimming and she loves mountains and trekking.
