Wixo LPR Piacenza put on the floor a great comeback at PalaBianchini in Latina, stunning Taiwan Excellence after being down 0-2 in the count of the sets.
Two clear wins for Vincenzo Di Pinto’s team in first two partials, 25-21 and 25-20 dominating with Cristian Savani and Sasha Starovic, always great in attack, putting in trouble the defence of Alberto Giuliani’s team. In third set the game was on the edge, with Top Volley who tried to close the game, but falling short down the attacks of of Simone Parodi, who drove Piacenza to a 25-22 win. In fourth the middle blockers of Wixo Lpr Piacenza stepped up, Aimone Alletti (10 points in the end) and Bulgarian Viktor Yosifov (16 points) was great in side outs, putting the ball on the ground with continuity, together with frenchman Trevor Clavenot, best scorer for Piacenza with 18 points. It was a great set for Piacenza, who won fourth 25-19, while the attack of Latina losing efficiency with Starovic, Savani and Maruotti. In tie breakPiacenza started very well, taking an early lead on 9-4. Then Latina tried to come back, fighting until being down only one point 10-11, but in the end Wixo continued to put points on the score, winning the fifth set 15-12 and taking home the 2 points of the tie break win. Viktor Yosifov (Wixo LPR Piacenza): “The only important thing is the win.It’s always difficult to play here in LAtina, they had a good start, but we came back and took home the win. This is the third tie break we win in this early season”.
Vincenzo Di Pinto (Taiwan Excellence Latina): “We missed some chances in third set to clos the game, and they were great in taking advantage of our mistakes. They are a good team, we know that the Superleague level is very high. In first tweo sets we had good rhythm, but we play every three days, iìand now we have to think about the next game versus Vibo”.
