The growth of Volley Savigliano, its climb from the C series to the A3 series made with two promotions on the field, has many architects.
One above all: coach Roberto Bonifetto. Its management lasted 12 years: from what we know, a record for a bench in the world of volleyball, hard to match.
In this period of time his relationship with Volley Savigliano has become symbiotic, going beyond the technical and competitive level to incorporate the human one.
In Savigliano “Boni” found the ideal environment to train as a coach, he grew up on “bread and volleyball” (without ever neglecting, in order, family, work and the “Bull”), and in the meantime he shaped him, this environment, making it his second family.
With healthy irony and self-irony, he has always said that he appreciates and recognizes himself in the “bread and salami” style of the biancoblù society (by the way: how many memorable dinners), that he feels at ease in a clean reality, without pressure and without filters.
The passion, the competence, the professionalism that he never spared, and the refinement which he never waived even in the hottest challenges, were a constant example and stimulus for players (some raised by him) and managers.
Once a historic, intense season in A3 has been archived and metabolized, the moment has come to say goodbye. Relegation has nothing to do with it, which has no particular scapegoats.
The reason is simple, clear, and has to do with the ineluctable cyclical nature of human experience. The mutual, serene awareness of both parties that a long-lived and profitable trend had run out, led to the consensual decision to take different paths. Both needed to turn the page and start again.
Volley Savigliano, on behalf of all those who are part of it, including the fans, sincerely thanks coach Roberto Bonifetto, wishing him to sow and reap what has been done here elsewhere.
With an early call: at the party for the 50th anniversary of the association, in 2023, he is entitled to a place of honor.
The minimum of gratitude for those who helped push this story towards horizons that were once not even imaginable.
Thanks for everything “Boni”, good luck!
