A unique journey, featuring top-level volleyball, a long break for personal reasons, and then a return to the court with the same passion as at the beginning. Plus Volleyball Sabaudia welcomes libero Louis Caccioppola, an athlete from Pontine who will bring experience, enthusiasm, and a deep knowledge of the region to the team.
Born in Latina in 1998, Caccioppola experienced the Superleague with Top Volley Latina at a very young age, playing three seasons in Italy’s top division. This journey allowed him to train and develop alongside international champions such as Erik Shoji, libero for the US national team and Olympic bronze medalist at Rio 2016; Christian Savani, a star player for years with the Italian national team; Yuki Ishikawa, currently captain of the Japanese national team; and Alessandro Fei, one of the greatest players in the history of Italian volleyball with 253 appearances for the national team, to name just a few.
“Sharing a passion and love for this sport, I’ve had the privilege of meeting Paolo Torre along the way. His dedication and experience have made me increasingly want to be part of this project,” Caccioppola explained. “Plus, this year we have Coach Totire, whom I don’t know personally, but his achievements and what he’s accomplished over the years are already well known, and that encouraged me to say yes right away. Sabaudia is one of the finest volleyball clubs in Lazio, and I will defend this legacy to the best of my ability. As for me, I have only one goal: to play my best to win and, why not, dream of something more.”
After his experience in the Superleague, Caccioppola chose to step away from volleyball, where he played for six seasons, dedicating himself to other personal and professional pursuits. This separation, however, hasn’t erased his connection to the sport.
