Sir Sicoma Monini Perugia returned late at night from the away match in Ljubljana.
The long trip to Slovenian land therefore ended in the best possible way for the Block Devils who, conquering the field of Ach Volleyball with a score of 3-1, brought home their fifth consecutive victory in Pool E of the Champions League and above all they mathematically sealed the first place in the group by detaching the ticket for the quarter-finals of the event with one round to spare.
The Bianconeri’s deserved success came after a well-played match in which Andrea Anastasi once again gave space to practically the entire squad available, having important answers from his boys.
“We went to Ljubljana with the intention of closing the qualification discussion,” says the Juventus coach. “We knew we were favourites, but then you always have to be able to prove it on the pitch. The first two sets were in control, in the third after qualifying we lost concentration a bit, but the boys did very well in the fourth to come back right away. Some guys have made important performances such as Herrera, who played very well, or Semeniuk who was fantastic at bat, doing great things. I’m satisfied because once again we played with the whole squad, which is our goal.”
