Experience, personality, and a mindset geared toward continuous growth. Belluno Volley has entrusted Calogero Tulone as director: the Sicilian setter will turn thirty in exactly one month and arrives in the shadow of the Dolomites after a long career in national volleyball.
PATH – Originally from Sciacca, Tulone leaped into senior volleyball from the springboards of his native Sicily. After his experience in A2 with Catania in the 2017-2018 season, he spent three seasons with Modica, first playing in a B championship and then two in A3. From there, he began a journey that led him to become one of the most reliable directors in the category: Ottaviano, Lecce, San Donà di Piave, and finally Sorrento, where he managed to earn several successes. With the Campania club, he earned promotion to Serie A2 and, last season, made a decisive contribution to reaching that goal, along with a teammate he’ll also be reuniting with at the VHV Arena: Andrea Baldi.
CALL – The white-and-blues are a team well known to the new director: “The call from Belluno Volley was particularly welcome,” he says. “I had the opportunity to get to know a serious, ambitious, and professional club. These are values I identify with and which I consider essential to working at my best.” Even as an opponent, Tulone has faced the Rhinos several times: “They have always been intense and unique matches. In San Donà, it was a very intense derby, while against Sorrento, I remember the Coppa Italia semifinal played in Longarone and the playoff final series. Exciting matches that were never predictable.”
