Another young talent at the court of coach Battocchio! Leonardo Bristot, born in 2002 with a family of volleyball players behind him, arrives from Serie B of Volley Parella Torino.
Leonardo took his first steps in the world of volleyball at the age of 13 right in Ferrara where he was born. A half season in Canada before the pandemic blocked everything and a bronze medal in the Trofeo delle Regioni at the time of the Selection with Emilia Romagna, where his talent had also been noticed and mentioned by the sector’s newspapers. In his career he was central, then 3 years as opposite in Serie B and finally spiker from last season in Turin.
« Cuneo is a team recognized throughout Italy, when I was little I didn’t watch much volleyball but Cuneo together with Modena and Trento are the teams that have remained most impressed on me. When the proposal arrived I felt very honoured, I spoke to a family friend who played here and he told me to say yes right away because of the professionalism and passion for volleyball that you live in Cuneo. Last year I started a role change process and this year I wanted to continue on this path, training as hard as possible every day to improve as much as possible alongside players who have more experience than me and learn from them all I can. We spoke on the phone with coach Battocchio and he gave me a general idea of next year’s work. I can’t wait to get to know the Cuneo public, the staff and my teammates, but above all to start the season» – the first words of Leonardo Bristot, spiker of the A2 series in the next season.
« I saw Leonardo play a couple of times this year in Serie B and in the friendly match in Cuneo at the end of the season before the U19 Final Four. I was very impressed by his arm and his jump. He was described to me as a determined boy and from the phone conversation I made with him I could see that he is true. I expect a lot from him, that he works hard not to be just an extra in Cuneo; I’m sure he’s not lacking in hunger and the desire to emerge, so he’ll be an excellent building block for the season.” – coach Matteo Battocchio.
