After Roberto Cominetti, Consar Ravenna has added another key player to its attack. The Ravenna-based club has announced the arrival of spiker Andrea Giani from Trentino Volley. Giani, a 2025 world runner-up with the Italian Under-22 national team, is coming off a season in which he made his SuperLega debut, playing four games and scoring 15 points.
Born in Ortona on May 29, 2007, Giani came through the Lube Civitanova youth system, playing two seasons in Serie B. He then moved to Trento in the summer of 2024, playing in the Serie B championship his first season and joining the first team last year.
He also has a long history with the youth national teams: in addition to the World Championship silver medal, his list of achievements also includes a European Under-17 gold medal in 2023 and a continental Under-19 silver medal in 2024. “In the national team, I had Manuel Zlatanov as a teammate,” he says, “and he was the first to explain Ravenna to me in detail and confirmed that I had made the best choice. And the chat with Coach Valentini was also helpful in realizing that Ravenna is a great and exciting opportunity for me. This is a club that works very well with young players, is well-organized, and has a structure that is on par with a SuperLega club. And then I’m reunited with Di Lascio, who I had with the national team, and I know that with Simone Ade, we will have top-level physical preparation.”
Andrea Giani arrives at Consar with clear ideas. “I’m arriving with great motivation and high expectations. I know I’m going to play in a historic Italian volleyball venue,” he emphasizes, “and in an environment with a great culture and knowledge of volleyball. I’m making myself available to my teammates and the coaching staff: I consider myself a balanced player; reception and serving are my best skills, but this year in Ravenna I’m aiming to improve in every respect.”
