Moyashi Garlasco awaits Monge-Gerbaudo Savigliano at the PalaRavizza for the first leg of the Serie A3 Credem Banca playoffs on Wednesday 12 April at 20.30. This is a historic moment for both companies, which in their second year in A3 hit the playoff goal and can play for an eighth-final with a more than open epilogue.

With only a 1-point lead over the black and greens at the end of the regular season, Savigliano seems to be a challenger within the Lomellina club’s reach. In the regular season, however, it was the Piedmontese who had the upper hand: in the first leg, the neroverdi, in their third outing of the season, had surrendered with an opaque 3-1; in the second leg, ahead 2-0 and even with an untapped match ball, the Penguins had instead been beaten in the tiebreak in what was a black January for Moyashi. A different story that of last season, with Garlasco winning on both occasions: since then a lot has changed for the two teams, who face these playoffs with the enthusiasm of those who have already given a historic success to their club and do not want sure stop dreaming.

If the precedents and the standings speak of a substantial balance, the two teams however arrive at the playoffs with two different trends: Moyashi, on the strength of seven consecutive victories, crowned its growth with a fantastic fifth place, armored with the victory over San Giustino in the last outing of the season. The situation of Savigliano is different, who after a dream first round, with 10 wins and only 3 defeats (moreover against the queens Fano and Pineto and in the difficult debut with Brugherio), suffered a sharp drop in the second round, collecting 6 consecutive defeats that saw it give up third place to Macerata and secure fourth place only on the last day. The Easter break was extremely vital on the Piedmontese front to re-propose in the post-season the same quality that characterized the first round of Monge-Gerbaudp.

But no fear is revealed in Calitri’s words, which confirms the good momentum of his team: “We come from an excellent second round and we are certainly in confidence. It didn’t go very well in the league against Savigliano… but the playoffs make history in themselves and the details will make the difference. We play the first at home and it will be essential to attack them right away to try and bring the series in our favor and then play all our cards on Sunday in Savigliano, where we know it’s not easy to play. I therefore invite all the fans to be present tomorrow in what is an unmissable event”.
