Vero Volley Monza continues the work in the gym in preparation for the Semifinal of the 5th place Play Offs, a tournament that opens the doors to Europe. Sunday 7 May, at 18.00 (live from volleyballworld.tv), at the Monza Arena, Beretta and his companions will host Pallavolo Padova for a place in the Final against the winner between Perugia and Modena. The Brianzas, who came in second place in the single group that saw the Perugians win, will face Padua with the third force, good at closing in front of the Modenese, fourth. To be eliminated from the race for the CEV Challenge Cup 2024, Verona, fifth in the rankings.

The Monzese are in their second consecutive semifinal, after the one they lost last year against Cisterna, the third ever after that of 2017-18 where they gained access to the CEV Challenge Cup by winning the tie-break against Padova in the Final. The Lombardi are looking for the third absolute participation in European competitions after the experiences of 2018-2019 in the Challenge Cup, closed with the defeat in the Final against the Russians of Belgorod, and that in the CEV Cup of 2021-2022, won against the French Tours.

This season Monza and Padova have faced each other three times: in the regular season the visiting teams won (in three sets Monza and in five sets Padova), in the Play Off group for the 5th place the Lombards 3-0. Of the 10 matches in Monza, the hosts have won 7 times against 3 of the Venetians (1-3 in the 2018-19 season, 2-3 last season and this one).
