Third consecutive away match for Allianz Milano which, after the two matches played in Piacenza against Gas Sales Bluenergy, is already in Southern Poland where on Tuesday 9 January afternoon at the Arena Sosnowiec (first serve at 5.30pm) it will face Aluron CMC Warta Zawiercie in CEV Cup 2024. This is the first leg of the “Play Off” round, intermediate between the Round of 16 and the Quarter Finals. The return match will be played at the Allianz Cloud in Milan on Thursday 18 January at 8pm.

In the last round of PlusLiga, Aluron achieved its seventh consecutive victory which consolidated third place in the standings. In the fifteen championship matches of the first round that ended in the last weekend, he scored 36 points with 12 victories and 3 defeats. Zawiercie’s coach is the Polish Michal Winiarski, former coach of Trefl Gdansk, who as a player spent three seasons in Trento, winning a Scudetto and a Champions League. Winiarski divides his time between the club and the German national team. His assistant is the same in Poland and Germany, he is Roberto Rotari, who was Piazza’s assistant on the Sisley Belluno bench in the 2011/12 season.

Among the most representative names of the Polish club are the captain and center back Mateusz Bieniek, world champion in 2018 and world champion in 2022, who has been with the national team for a decade, his teammate Michal Szalacha and the spiker Barosz Kwolek, both in the of the Polish national team, the Australian libero Luke Perry and the French Tokyo Olympic champion, Trevor Clevenot, the only former player on the pitch, given that he played with the Allianz Milano shirt for two seasons from 2018 to 2020.

Aluron CMC Warta’s CEV journey started from the Round of 32 of the Final against the Austrians of TSV Raiffeisen Hartberg, in the Round of 32 the Poles had faced the Bulgarian team of Hebar Pazardzhik Pazardjik losing the only match of the event 3-2, but with the passage of the shift already in your pocket. Finally, a clear path and a double 3-0 in the Round of 16 for Zawiercie with the Romanian team SCM Craiova defeated on both occasions in just over an hour.
