Camillo Placì is the new coach of Saturnia Acicastello. The Castellose club is starting to reveal its cards for the next season in which it will be involved in the A2 men’s volleyball championship, with the aim of returning to the Super League.

An international level coach arrives in President Pulvirenti’s club who, in his career, has won many trophies and is already working with sporting director Piero D’Angelo to form the new roster.

Bulgaria, Russia, Turkey, Serbia: Placì has led top teams at an international level. His palmares includes European Cups, Olympic medals, World Leagues, entire seasons without ever losing a match. Now the coach of Apulian origins is ready to put all his experience at the service of Saturnia.

“The choice of Camillo Placì was the normal consequence of the objectives that the company’s planning has set for next season – the comment of president Pulvirenti – one of the most important Italian coaches arrives, his CV and results say so. We are proud of the fact that Placì has chosen to share our project, he is a technician who will contribute to the growth of our entire corporate path, as well as being the steady hand to lead the team, with the skills and experiences necessary to achieve the objective we have set ourselves: to win and return to the Super League.”

“This project involved me emotionally right from the start – explains the new biancoblu coach – and what did it were the words of the president Luigi Pulvirenti and the sporting director Piero D’Angelo, who were very clear on one point: we will take to the field to return to the Super League. The club’s enthusiasm is contagious.”

Placì, who in Catania reunites with Mauro Puleo, his great collaborator on the bench of the Bulgarian national team with whom he won the silver medal at the 2015 World League, has already analyzed Saturnia’s entire last season: “This relegation on the pitch does not tell the story well that really happened, because there were so many setbacks starting with injuries. On the other hand, two elements emerged: the Sicilian public has rediscovered volleyball at the highest level, having a great taste of what it could be, and the club has ventured into a category, knowing it has what it takes to face it.”
