Del Monte® Boy League returns at the end of May 2024, the competition reserved for Under 14 athletes signed by Lega Pallavolo Serie A which, after a few years of absence, will allow young volleyball players from some of the most thriving youth sectors of Serie A to get involved show.
The 25th edition of the “Enrico Bazan Cup” will be organized by the Serie A Volleyball League, in collaboration with FIPAV, with the Virtus Fano company and with the Municipality of Fano, together with the Apav Calcinelli-Lucrezia company. Eight teams will meet from 24 to 26 May on two fields: the facilities that will host the competitions will in fact be the Palasport Allende in Fano (main field) and the municipal gym of Lucrezia di Cartoceto.
2024 will be a special edition for the Boy League, which returns to an important stage after five seasons of absence. In the last edition, dated 2018/19, the winner was Itas Trentino, its second success in the competition. This year, in addition to the Dolomite formation, Consar Ravenna, Gamma Chimica Brugherio, Kioene Padova, Cucine Lube Civitanova, Sir Susa Vim Perugia, Valsa Group Modena and Puliservice Acqua S. Bernardo Cuneo will also be on stage.
The Boy League formula initially included an elimination phase with 16 participating teams divided into 4 groups of 4 teams each: a single concentration was then played for a total of 6 group matches. The first and second place in each group qualified for the Final Eight at the end of the concentration.
In addition to the qualified teams, the following also participated in the four groups: Tinet Prata di Pordenone, Wimore Salsomaggiore Terme, Monge Gerbaudo Savigliano, Pool Libertas Cantù, CUS Cagliari, Smartsystem Fano, Shedirpharma Sorrento and Yuasa Battery Grottazzolina.
The PalaAllende in Fano was the scene of the first Serie A3 event of the 2023/24 season, the Final Four Del Monte® Coppa Italia which saw OmiFer Palmi triumph at the beginning of March. The Del Monte® Supercoppa A3 in April 2023 and the Final Eight Del Monte® Junior League 2022 were also played in the same sports hall.
