The return match of the quarter-finals of the 2024 CEV Champions League will be played on Thursday 29 February at the ILT Daily Arena in Trento, the penultimate of two double knockout rounds before the SuperFinals (4 or 5 May, in a venue yet to be made official). Trentino Itas will host the Germans of Berlin Recycling Volleys with the aim of confirming the superiority that already emerged in the 3-0 in the first leg match played in Germany a week ago. Kick-off scheduled for 8.30pm; live on Radio Dolomiti and DAZN.
The yellow-blues return to play a Champions League home match a month and a half after the last previous match (17 January, only home defeat against Rzeszow – at the tie break), with the aim of obtaining another positive result to break away qualification for the semi-finals of the competition, an intermediate goal achieved twice in the last three editions and already achieved in total on seven occasions.
“In Berlin, in the first leg played a week ago, we were very good at playing high-level volleyball which tilted the score in our favor in every set. On Thursday we will start from scratch, trying to propose a similar performance from the beginning – explained coach Fabio Soli -. Our opponent has a squad of international players who have already been able to beat Tours at home in a match similar to the one we will play tomorrow; even if the 3-0 obtained in Germany is a promising result, we are aware that, to get through and reach the semi-final, we will need our best from the first exchanges”.
Trentino Itas arrives at the event with thirteen victories in fourteen home matches of the season and six victories in seven matches played in the 2024 CEV Champions League. For the occasion, the coach of the Italian Champions will recover Rychlicki (who was specially rested on Sunday in Perugia) and will therefore have all fourteen players in the squad at his disposal.
Against Berlin, Trentino Volley will play the 217th international match in its history (174 victories, 41 defeats), the 131st ever in the Champions League. In front of their fans in this competition, the Via Trener Club played a total of 59 matches, losing only 9 of them.
The Berlin Recycling Volleys appears in Trento just under two years after the last time (10 March 2022) with the need to win four sets and leave at most only one to the hosts to be able to gain qualification for the semi-finals which in the event it obtained only in the 2015 edition, as the organizing club of the Final Four.
