The group stage of the CEV Champions League 2024 has come to an end: tomorrow, Wednesday 17 January, the sixth and final “leg” will be played. Piacenza, certain of qualification but not first place, is looking for important points to consolidate or improve its position; Trento and Civitanova, although mathematically first, are awaiting internal commitments to maintain their position among the top of the various Pools. In fact, at the end of the group stage, the teams will be “reclassified” in the direct elimination table depending on their ranking in the group and the number of points compared to the other teams placed in the same position.

CEV Challenge Cup 2024

After the convincing win in the first leg (0-3 away to Sofia), Mint Vero Volley Monza will have to manage their physical and mental energies. The Monza team, in fact, are fresh from the marathon played last Sunday against Valsa Group Modena, a 2 hour and 16 minute match valid for the fourteenth matchday of the SuperLega Credem Banca. To obtain passage to the Semi-finals of the third European competition, the Brianza team will have to win at least two sets, while in the event of a “three-point” defeat, Beretta and his teammates will have another chance at the Golden Set.

On the other side, MINT Vero Volley Monza will face the fierce Bulgarian team. Before the first leg there had been no precedent between the two teams in official matches, just as there are no exes on either side of the net. Levski Sofia, in the previous round, had defeated the Romanian team Dinamo Bucharest, winning 3-0 in Sofia but being defeated 2-3 in Romania. Top scorer for the Bulgarians in the first match, spiker Vladimir Garkov, author of 8 points.
