Tizi-Oualou Eliminated, France Loses to the United States
Quarterfinals of the Men’s Under-21 Volleyball World Championship. The most notable event was the elimination of Tizi-Oualou’s France, defeated in a tie-break by the United States at the end of a match that lasted over two hours. The young Modena Volley setter’s five points (four attacking and one blocking) weren’t enough for the French. Belmadi’s team now faces China (beaten 3-0 by Iran) in the 5th-8th place match.
Pardo Mati’s Italy, meanwhile, made no mistake, winning 3-1 against Cuba. The victory was thanks to the yellow-blue middle blocker (a whopping eighteen points, including fourteen attacking, three blocking, and one serving) and sends the Azzurri to the semifinal against the Czech Republic, scheduled for tomorrow, Saturday, August 30th, at 11:00 a.m.
