A two-and-a-half-hour ride for the Block Devils, who in today’s match against the Japanese team Osaka Bluteon won in the tiebreak at the end of an exciting match where the technical level had risen significantly, living up to the pre-match expectations. The Japanese started ahead in the first set, well-orchestrated by the French setter Brizard, but Sir Sicoma Monini Perugia quickly came back into the match, winning the next two sets by playing excellent team volleyball, with captain Giannelli sending all his key attackers into double figures. Osaka took the fourth set, finding the final spark and dragging the match to a tiebreak: a final set that provided a real spectacle, with continuous changes of front, powerful serves and full-fire attacks. The tiebreak ended in a deuce with the Block Devils ultimately taking the match by winning the fifth set 23-21. Coach Lorenzetti fielded the same starting six as yesterday’s debut, with Dzavoronok coming on as a starter and bringing solidity to the team in all areas, finishing with 10 points, 3 aces and a 70% attack rate.
