Even though a week has already passed since winning his second World Cup with the Italian national team, Alessandro Michieletto is still at the centre of media attention. The Itas Trentino spiker, champion of Italy, and best player at the World Championships in the Philippines, was one of the main guests this afternoon on today’s episode of “Verissimo,” Canale 5’s historic weekend news program.
“Until my third year of high school, I wasn’t very tall, just 185 centimeters, so much so that I was a libero,” he explained to host Silvia Toffanin. “Then in the following years, I grew more and more, without realizing it. Others pointed it out to me; now I should be stable at 211 centimeters. I tried many sports, but then volleyball won, thanks in part to my dad, Riccardo. When I started playing seriously, I dreamed of one day turning this activity into my job, and now I’ve done it. I hope to be able to win a lot more. I left home early to come to Trento and pursue my goal. I made many sacrifices. There were several times I wanted to go back, but I would do it all again. Having my father by my side At Trentino Volley he helped me a lot because he already knew the environment and the situations; however, I have to give him credit for being good at helping me conquer things on my own.
