Emma Villas Codyeco Lupi Siena physiotherapist Francesco Alfatti is world champion for the second time. He won the world title with the Italian men’s national volleyball team, a remarkable sporting achievement that replicates the one he achieved with the Azzurri in 2022. He now has two world championship gold medals to his name as a professional. “It was a fantastic, very emotional experience,” says Alfatti. “We weren’t expecting it; confirming our performance at this level was anything but a given. After the match against Argentina, things changed a bit, but in the final matches, the team was practically perfect and played top-notch volleyball. The summer went by very quickly; it’s not easy being available 24/7, but obviously it’s a pleasure and an honor to represent the Italian national team. The group was fantastic; the only major disappointment was Daniele Lavia’s injury.”
