Seven out of seven. A full complement of red and white players have qualified for the second phase of the Volleyball World Championship in the Philippines, including a culinary derby in the Round of 16 in Pasay City. A veritable showcase in Manila for Cucine Lube Civitanova players on their respective national teams.

All eyes are on the first match on Sunday, September 21st, with the red and white clash at 9:30 a.m. Italian time between Argentina’s opposite hitter Pablo Kukartsev, undefeated in Pool C, and Italy’s libero Fabio Balaso, spiker Mattia Bottolo, and middle blocker Giovanni Gargiulo. The Azzurri, thanks to their clear victory over Ukraine, secured second place in Pool F, overcoming the defeat suffered in the tie-break against Belgium.

On the same court, the Flemish team led by newly appointed middle blocker Wout D’heer, strong in their lead in Pool F, is preparing to play everything on Sunday at 2:00 PM Italian time against Finland, a team that finished second in Pool C behind Argentina.

On Monday, September 22nd, at 9:30 AM Italian time, Bulgaria will face off. This time, they have been led by spiker Alex Nikolov, a idol of the Predators and of the Manila fans, and a key player in a Pool E victory with three wins and eight points. At the other end of the spectrum will be Portugal, who finished second in Pool D.
