For more than fifteen years now, at the end of each transfer session Trentino Volley promotes at least one new product of its thriving Youth Sector to the first men’s team. The tradition will continue in the summer of 2025: it will be renewed by the middle blocker Leonardo Gabriel Sandu who, after completing the Trentino youth system and playing two Serie B championships with the UniTrento Volley project, will be a player on the Itas Trentino SuperLega roster from October.
For the young 3rd place player born in Tarquinia but of Romanian origins, eighteen years old in September, this is a promotion earned on the field; during the last year, in addition to being a key element of the Juniores team, which reached seventh place in the standings also thanks to his 249 points scored (76 of which blocking) in 26 games, Leonardo has already had the opportunity to demonstrate his great potential, often training with the first team and finding a place on the bench also on a couple of official occasions.
