The start of Yuasa Battery Grottazzolina’s historic second consecutive season in the Superleague is fast approaching. A small town of 3,200 residents is lining up at the starting line of the world’s toughest volleyball championship, shoulder to shoulder with the “giants” but above all with the pride of being there and having its say. To tell us how the Yuasa world is experiencing this wait, which will end on October 20th with the debut at the Eurosuole in Civitanova Marche, is longtime executive and vice president Claudio Laconi, who has lived through almost the entire history of Grottazzolina volleyball.

“The feeling is wonderful. Every now and then I think back on everything we’ve experienced and where we are now, and it all seems incredible,” Laconi says. “What seemed so distant and unattainable, not just decades ago but even just a few years ago, is now a reality. We’ve often talked about a dream that seemed so distant, and instead you realize you’re right there, living it alongside the elite of world volleyball. When you get there, it’s the culmination of the work done by Massimiliano, Rossano, and everyone else, with their continued growth.”
