FIPAV has chosen Cisterna once again. The Palasport on Via Delle Province will host the matches of the European Under-18 Men’s Championship from July 7th to 15th. After the 2021 Senior National Team friendlies and the qualifying matches for the 2025 European Under-22 Championship, another major event is now on the cards. The awarding of the continental tournament to Cisterna and Cisterna Volley is a source of satisfaction and pride.
Sixteen participating nations are divided into two groups of eight: Pool 2 will be played in Cisterna, which includes reigning champion France, Belgium, Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, Spain, Germany, Romania, and the Netherlands (Pool 1, featuring Italy, Poland, Finland, Greece, Turkey, Serbia, Slovenia, and Iceland, will be held in Porto San Giorgio).
The top two teams in their respective pools will compete (in Porto San Giorgio) for the European title. We talked with Giuseppe Manfredi, president of the Italian Volleyball Federation (FIPAV), about volleyball in general, the value of the continental tournament and the quality of the youth movement, but also about the role of Cisterna, the growth of the area, and the club’s future on the national scene.
