Sir Susa Scai Perugia bounced back after two consecutive defeats, redeeming themselves in front of their home crowd at Pala Barton Energy with a 3-1 victory over Vero Volley Monza in the 12th matchday (first return round) of the SuperLega Credem Banca Regular Season.
In the match, brought forward to this evening due to Perugia’s participation in the upcoming Club World Championship, Angelo Lorenzetti shuffled the field slightly: Marco Gaggini (Monza until last season) is the libero; Wassim Ben Tara—who had an early exit against Trento—has been on the court since the start of the match. Massimo Eccheli, on the other hand, relies on former players Jan Zimmermann and Thomas Beretta.
After winning the first set 25-14, Sir Susa Scai Perugia was forced to endure a comeback from Vero Volley Monza, who won the second set in deuce, capitalizing on a strong entry from Luka Marttila (the spiker would score 11 points at the end of the match). Perugia regained the lead in the sets at the end of the third set, taking all three points thanks to a decisive attack from Ben Tara (match MVP) at the end of the fourth set.
