This afternoon, the Italian Men’s National Team, along with the Women’s National Team, was welcomed to the Quirinale Palace by President Sergio Mattarella, who wished to celebrate their double success at this summer’s World Championships, with Italy securing an extraordinary double. This meeting further demonstrated the Head of State’s support and appreciation for volleyball.
The national team was thus able to celebrate once again the gold medal won in the Philippines at the end of September: a triumph that repeated the 2022 triumph.

The Italian athletes, who are preparing for the start of the next Credem Banca SuperLega championship (scheduled for Monday, October 20), were welcomed by the Head of State, who received the two medals and two World Champion national team jerseys, with Simone Anzani representing the Azzurri.
“You have been formidable, passionately supported by all Italians, and everyone is grateful to you,” Mattarella said. “It has been an extraordinarily fascinating journey. I want to highlight the presence today of Daniele Lavia, who participated in the World Cup with heart and soul.”
Late in the afternoon, the two national teams were also guests at Palazzo Chigi, hosted by Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni.
