This morning, June 16, the Terni Volley Academy introduced its new head coach, Giancarlo D’Amico, who will lead the Dragons for the 2026/27 season. At the Cardeto bar, thanks to sponsor Mediolanum Banca, the company’s top management unveiled the new club project and introduced the new head coach to the press and fans. Vice President and General Manager Francesco Biribanti hosted the event, explaining the reasons for the choice: “Everyone has spoken to me about D’Amico, from industry experts to the players. The players’ words are especially important to me, because if the athletes work well with someone, it’s a guarantee of their value. We needed a motivated coach who was willing to commit to an important project, which is why we believe D’Amico is the right choice, and he will be our leader.”

Team manager Domingo Bassetti addressed the bitter end of the season: “Even though we didn’t achieve what we wanted on the pitch, we’re now confident that the League will approve our request for relegation; a decision should be made within a few hours. We’ve assembled a good team that can give us satisfaction, and we have the ambition of reaching the playoffs.”

Giancarlo D’Amico immediately put himself at the club’s service with enthusiasm and a desire to get into the thick of the season: “When Francesco Biribanti calls, it’s easier to accept any kind of offer,” the coach explained. “I was coming off an important period in my life and needed to restart with high-level volleyball, and I came to accept this challenge. It’s an honor for me to work for this club. We don’t set goals or limits, but we’ll build them through daily work: I’m confident that the team we’ve assembled will be dedicated to the city and the club. One of the first things I heard was the beautiful arena and the great support in Terni, factors that will be crucial for us throughout the season. I ask the boys to be loyal to their jersey and to not let the ball drop, and I’ll be the first. I’ll never be the coach who dictates things from above, but I too will be sweating for that jersey every day and giving my all to this experience.”
