The Venetian setter Luca Martinelli will still have the keys to the direction of Campi Reali Cantù. Having arrived in the shadow of the bell tower of San Paolo in the season just ended, the left-handed setter has gradually earned space on the court, until he closed the championship among the starters and deserved confirmation for the championship that will start in October 2025.
Coach Alessio Zingoni comments on the confirmation as follows: “Luca was a desired and precious reconfirmation: he is a setter who has earned his place, and I heard in his words a great desire to reconfirm himself. As we know, in sport, reconfirmation is always the most difficult part, so he must be absolutely motivated, and he is, to start this new season together with Cantù.
“I am happy to stay in Cantù – says the Venetian setter –: I felt very good here. On a personal level, then, last season was surprising because I started as a second but I managed to earn the place as a starter. When I received the offer to stay, and also considering the fact that Zingo (Coach Alessio Zingoni, ed.) would have been the first coach, I accepted immediately to try to reconfirm myself. In this environment I got along well with everyone, I felt at home, and this is not a given. This is something extra that helps in the choice. Next season will be tough because we will be a super young team, my role within the team will be different compared to last season, but it is certainly stimulating.
