The spiker from Romagna Mattia Orioli will wear the Sonepar Padova jersey again. Born in 2004 in Cesena, Orioli has been confirmed in the black and white roster also for the next SuperLega season. For him, it will be the second consecutive experience in the shadow of the Saint.
Before arriving in Padova last season, Mattia played four years, from 2020_21 to 2023_24, with the Ravenna jersey. In the 2024_25 championship he collected 27 appearances in total between the regular season and the 5th place play-offs, taking to the field in 75 sets.
“It was certainly an intense season. We had a clear goal from the beginning, that is, salvation, and we managed to achieve it,” commented Orioli. “It wasn’t easy. We had to fight until the end. The two decisive victories at the end of the season came thanks to the great work we did, especially in the second part of the championship. I’m satisfied, because the team worked well and I, on a personal level, feel like I’ve grown. Obviously I know there’s still a lot to work on, but I’m happy with the path we’ve taken so far.”
The Cesena spiker then spoke about the Padua environment: “Before arriving I had informed myself and already had a good impression of the club. I must say that my expectations were confirmed. Here we work very well, both physically and technically: there’s time and space to improve, and this is fundamental for a young man like me.
