Following the defeat at league leaders Castellana Grotte, coach Enzo Distefano’s Avimec Modica returned to the gym yesterday to prepare for their home match against Aurispa Lecce.
The blue and whites, beloved by President Vanni Iacono, are aiming for a victory they’ve been missing for two weeks. Before focusing on their week’s work and setting their sights on the match against the Apulian team, they analyzed the mistakes they made at the PalaGrotte. Then, everyone returned to the gym with the goal of continually improving their performances, which have been solid in these first four matchdays of the Serie A3 championship. Now, they’ll need to avoid any push-ups during the match, which have cost them dearly.
“Castellana’s quality,” explains Enzo Distefano, “was further enhanced by their return to the PalaGrotte. They were excellent at serving and at blocking and defending, which really hurt us. Our second set was one to forget after the first, which was very close. In the third set, we had a good response, especially in attack, where the boys showed they can handle it even away from the PalaRizza.”
