One of the most thrilling Regular Seasons in recent years couldn’t help but experience a thrilling sprint at the halfway point, with the overall set ratio dominating the battle for fourth place. However, it’s important to remember that Sir Susa Scai Perugia had already played and won their 12th round match (first leg of the return leg) against Vero Volley Monza, and therefore already has three more points than their opponents to manage in the second half of the regular season. At the end of a thrilling round, the winter title went to Itas Trentino, thanks to a tie-break comeback on their home court against Gas Sales Bluenergy Piacenza, who defended fourth place with the point gained in the Dolomites. Rana Verona, who slipped to second place, wasn’t enough on home soil and with the support of their fans to finish the first half of the season in the lead and thwart a four-set blitz by a constantly improving Valsa Group Modena. A tough task for the Canaries, who managed to catch up with Piacenza in the standings but remain in fifth place based on set count. A fun and slightly crazy face-off between Cucine Lube Civitanova, without the suspended Alex Nikolov, and Allianz Milano, featuring striker Ferre Reggers, was enthralling.
