The first matchday without a match for the Block Devils, who, after finishing the preliminary stage of the Club World Cup in the best possible way, with three wins out of three and a top spot in Pool B, are preparing for tomorrow’s semifinal against Basilian team Renata.

The Vôlei Renata team, led by coach Eduardo Horacio Dileo, is preparing for the semifinal after a mixed group stage run: defeated in their opening match by Polish team Zawiercie, who prevailed in a tiebreak, they then earned three full points with a 3-1 win against Brazilian team Praia Clube. They are also coming off last night’s shock defeat against Qatari team Al-Rayyan Sports Club, who won their final match of the preliminary stage with a resounding 3-0 victory. With four points, they finished the group stage in second place in Pool B and will take to the field tomorrow with a determined spirit and the support of the Brazilian crowd.
Massimo Colaci: “They’re a quality opponent, because there are many players who have played for the Brazilian national team, some of whom are still with the national team. There are some young players, we know them all, we know them well, and facing a Basilian team in Brazil is always difficult, because they bring a lot of competitive spirit and will certainly rely heavily on their serve.
