For the first time this season, Consar must play a match with only one mandatory result: victory. The one needed tomorrow afternoon, at the PalaEstra in Siena (play at 6 pm) in game 2 of the playoff quarterfinals to avoid elimination and take the challenge to the play-off on Wednesday 2 April at the Pala Costa. On the other side of the net is an Emma Villas Siena that is on a roll with nine consecutive victories and with the awareness of having a match ball to play for to reach the semifinals. “At home, Siena played very high-level volleyball last Sunday and we expect it to do the same tomorrow – highlights the opposite hitter of Consar, Tommaso Guzzo, third best spiker in A2 in the regular season with 490 total points – but we are calm and convinced that we can extend the series. During the week we analyzed at length what didn’t work and now we are focused on game 2 knowing that we must provide a higher quality performance in those situations in which we were less effective in game 1, namely reception and attack”. The awareness of having to play a do-or-die game has not disturbed the weekly work of Goi and his teammates. There is a strong belief in the Consar house that they can put the quarterfinal series back on the right track, but also the right tension that characterizes decisive challenges. The spokesperson for this state of mind is the assistant coach of Consar Saverio Di Lascio.
