The face-off in the 11th round, the final of the first leg, lived up to expectations at the OpiquadArena. Two teams were on the field with a knife between their teeth. A grueling sporting battle rewarded Vero Volley Monza, who managed to consolidate their eighth place in the standings with a stunning comeback from 0-2 down to a liberating roar in the tie-break against a spirited Yuasa Battery Grottazzolina. The Brianza team’s third consecutive Regular Season win earned the Club del Consorzio a final spot in the Del Monte® Coppa Italia Quarterfinals, to be played away against the winter champions. Once they had a two-goal lead, however, Massimiliano Ortenzi’s men came under pressure from Massimo Eccheli’s team, who, even with the support of their fans, found the energy to fight back. The finale was thrilling, with a late overtaking and an explosion of joy from the Arena. Yuasa finished the first half of the season without a win, but with another point to start over and with the awareness of being on the right path to try to climb back up the table. Standing out on one side were Padar, top scorer with 28 points, Velichkov (22) and Larizza (10), while among the guests were Golzadeh (24), Magalini (22), Tatarov (21) and Petkov (13).
