Three Gas Sales Bluenergy Volley Piacenza players have been called up by coach Ferdinando De Giorgi for the first stage of the VNL 2026: setter Paolo Porro, opposite hitter Alessandro Bovolenta, and libero Domenico Pace. Middle blocker Francesco Comparoni continues his training with the Italian national team in Val di Fiemme from today, Wednesday, June 3rd, to Saturday, June 13th, while fellow red-and-white middle blocker Gianluca Galassi will join the Italian team in a few weeks.
After the Azzurri’s three friendlies played in Italy in Cavalese, Verona, and Bergamo, Ferdinando De Giorgi’s men’s national team will meet again tomorrow, Thursday, June 4th, at the Olympic Training Center in Rome, before flying to Ottawa (June 6th) to begin Week 1 of the 2026 edition of the Volleyball Nations League.
For this first international event, coach De Giorgi has selected 14 athletes: setters Paolo Porro and Mattia Boninfante; middle blockers Pardo Mati, Giovanni Sanguinetti, Giovanni Gargiulo, and Leandro Mosca; spikers Francesco Sani, Mattia Bottolo, Luca Porro, and Mattia Orioli; opposite hitters Kamil Rychlicki and Alessandro Bovolenta; liberos Gabriele Laurenzano and Domenico Pace.
