Seven days after their first official friendly, a 3-1 victory over Brescia in Rovereto, the Itas Trentino men’s team returns to the court for a new test match, which promises to be even more interesting and revealing than the previous one: it will be their first against a SuperLega team.
On Wednesday, October 8th, starting at 7:00 PM at the PalaRomare in Schio, the Italian champions will face Sonepar Padova for the third “Trofeo Città di Schio” (City of Schio Trophy). For Trentino Volley, the pre-season match in Schio is now becoming a pleasant and well-established tradition; it will be the fourth time in the last eight seasons. The most recent precedent dates back to September 11, 2024, when they defeated Piacenza 3-1, while in 2023 the match was played against Modena (winning in four sets).
Less than two weeks before his debut in the 2025/26 SuperLega, coach Marcelo Mendez will still have to contend with an incomplete roster. Trentino Volley’s new Argentine coach will therefore be able to count on the same squad used last Wednesday in Rovereto, with Bartha, Faure, Flavio, Gabi Garcia, and Torwie, who will, however, have an extra week of training with their teammates.
