The 2025-2026 season for Viridex Sabaudia has come to a close, a journey that began with enthusiasm, continued with ups and downs, and concluded with results that, while lacking any final milestones, remain significant and worth sharing.
Coach Stefano Beltrame analyzes the championship’s progress from start to finish: “Analyzing the season isn’t easy, because you have to start from the beginning and see it through to the end. I think we got off to a good start, having an excellent first half of the season and also a good start to the second half, where we achieved important results. Overall, I see the glass as half full,” the coach explains. “It’s clear that we’re not completely satisfied with how the season ended, also due to injuries and some issues that arose along the way. There’s especially disappointment in the playoffs, where we wanted to do a little more, but we weren’t able to. Credit goes to our opponents, but at the same time, we have to look at ourselves.”
The Pontine team closed the season with 10 wins and 10 losses between the regular season and playoffs, a historic qualification to the Coppa Italia Final Four, and a podium finish, with captain Samuel Onwuelo finishing third, in the Serie A3 top scorers’ standings with 364 points. “Negative situations must help us grow and improve in the future, and I believe there’s no point dwelling on what happened, but rather analyzing it to understand where we can improve,” he concluded. “I thank the club for giving us the opportunity to tackle this championship, and the managers and players who have always believed in me. That’s not a given, especially for a first-time coach at this level. Thanks also go to the city of Sabaudia, which supported us throughout the season. Now everyone will make their own assessments, and then we’ll see what the future holds.”
